Trip to Kiruna 27.02-04.03.2007

After a 16 hour train ride we finally arrived in Kiruna!

Surprisingly the train ride was not that exhausting as we thought it would be.

The first thing after storing our luggage at the youth hostel was to visited Europe's biggest mine. Some of us were really tired, but it was quite interesting and impressing XXL

Even the wheels were XXL

The next day we made out ride with the dog sledge and the snow mobile.
But before we got mega "Lordi Boots" the biggerst one got Katariina :-). She was the Lordi Queen, and was really sad to give them back.

Even though the dogs smell a bit, the ride was really great.

Then we arrived in our camp. The first thing we had to to before the lunch was to cut the fire wood, for our huts the BBQ and the sauna. Everybody tried to help.

This was our Lappish hut:

After our reindeer - pasta lunch we went to get some water out of the lake nearby.

And had a lot of fun ;-)

We made our own bread for the BBQ dinner at night. The best Lappish bread ever!!!

After the BBQ some of us made a night walk to see the northern lights some of us drove like crazy with the snow mobiles. We met each other in the best Swedish sauna ever and stayed until 3! We slept like babies in our smoky hut ;-)

The next day was the most beautiful day this year as even our Sami said. Blue sky & sun! It was time to try cross country skiing. And it was fun!!

We also had some nice pets ;-)

At the evening we went back home with the dog sledge and had a great couscous dinner in our youth hostel.

On our last day we went to the ICE HOTEL. It was really cold without our bis shoes but i was impressing. This is my favourite room:

The ice living room:

And Austrian Birnen Snaps instead of the expensive Absolut Vodka. I tasts delicious out of the ice glass!!

And after ward we had our 16 hours in the train and tried to catch some sleep. Back at home the people from Flogsta made a welcome party for us. That was really nice - thanks! It fells like in a big family and everybody feels at home in Uppsala !!!!
